        Hey Everyone,

I'm a 1st year medical student, and I suffer from palmar hyperhidrosis. So far, I've learned to coop with hyperhydrosis for most of my life but now it seems likes it hindering my capabilities and confidence, especially when performing physical exams on patients. We use our hands a lot in clinics, and I feel a great discomfort between myself and the patient because of my sweaty hands. Many of the times, I get the “look” from a patient and my attending who think I'm nervous when really I just sweat a lot, which my anxiety increase, which further triggers sweating. :/

I'm currently taking glycopyrrolate 2 mg tablets + drysol which have been the best combination to alleviate my symptoms –even though the side effects are not so pleasant,I've dealt with them. I've tried botox injections in my palms (which was painful and yielded minimal results).Lastly, my iontophoresis was great, but just not practical with my lifestyle since I'm always on the go, studying, and have minimal free time. I don't want to resort to ETS but now feeling like it's my last hope.

Does anyone have any recommendations or remedies on how I can overcome this? Any input is much appreciated. 🙂

        Thank you.

        How I cured Palmer HH..
Had it for several years and yeah it sucks

        1. you can build urself an Iontophoresis machine u can find it how on youtube. This works about 80%

        2. A better method for me was to take magnesium and P5p vitamins. Take in morning otherwise it will effect sleep. After I discovered the vitamins I stopped doing the machine. This takes car of it 94%

        3. However the best way is a low carb diet otherwise know as ketonegic diet. Simply put I have working on the diet for a month and its about 98% cure. ITs been about a week since I have taken my vitamins and because of the diet and I seem to be fine
Basically stay away from sugar and most form of carbohydrates no cake, no pasta, no bread doesn't matter if it white or whole wheat etc. FYI fruits have sugar so stay away from fruits as well. Also anything with caffeine so no coffee tea. Also try to avoid alcohol but if you have to drink only hard liquor no beer. If you do go low carb make sure increase ur fat intake, apply lots of olive oil to everything.

Basically HH is caused (in my opinion ) when the sympathetic nervous system is overly sensitive. As a result you have stay from anything that stimulates that system

Despite what you may read on other sites regarding u can eat white rice, I eat frequently and it seems to have no effect

Good luck- feel free ask questions

There are a variety of techniques to decrease sweating under the arms:

        • Botox- Botox is helpful in that it can decrease the production of sweat but not odor.  It typically lasts about 6 months in the under arm area.
        • Miradry-  Miradry uses microwave energy to destroy apocrine and eccrine glands.  It is better at eccrine gland destruction than apocrine and is currently only used on the underarm area.
        • RF needling- Can be used anywhere on the body and can destroy both apocrine and eccrine glands.  Has become the procedure of choice in my practice for hyperhidrosis due to its effectiveness.
        • Nerve ablation-Not commonly performed anymore as side effects are often worse than treatment and effectiveness is often limited.
        • Oral medications- Too many side effects to be effective.
        • Topical medications- Works by blocking glands.  Many patients state how not effective mechanism.
