Hey Everyone,
I'm a 1st year medical student, and I suffer from palmar hyperhidrosis. So far, I've learned to coop with hyperhydrosis for most of my life but now it seems likes it hindering my capabilities and confidence, especially when performing physical exams on patients. We use our hands a lot in clinics, and I feel a great discomfort between myself and the patient because of my sweaty hands. Many of the times, I get the “look” from a patient and my attending who think I'm nervous when really I just sweat a lot, which my anxiety increase, which further triggers sweating. :/
I'm currently taking glycopyrrolate 2 mg tablets + drysol which have been the best combination to alleviate my symptoms –even though the side effects are not so pleasant,I've dealt with them. I've tried botox injections in my palms (which was painful and yielded minimal results).Lastly, my iontophoresis was great, but just not practical with my lifestyle since I'm always on the go, studying, and have minimal free time. I don't want to resort to ETS but now feeling like it's my last hope.
Does anyone have any recommendations or remedies on how I can overcome this? Any input is much appreciated. 🙂
Thank you.
