F.A.Q

Here are some of the most common questions I receive about Hyperhidrosis Network:

Why do you run this website?

I suggest you read about me here. Here's a short version:  I think there is a lot of bad advise on internet regarding hyperhidrosis and I suffered a lot because of them when I was frantically looking for a cure for my condition. Over the course, I have learnt a lot about managing hyperhidrosis, and will love to share it with other patients in my situation.

That's it.. really!

So, who are you?

In a nutshell, a 37 year old management consultant living in New York with my wife and a 5 year old boy. I spent most of my childhood in India, and have had palmar/plantar hyperhidrosis since my teenage years.

How is your hyperhidrosis now?

Iontophoresis works for me (that is, when I take the treatment sessions in a disciplined manner). So far, so good – my excessive sweat condition is not cured, but “well managed”. I do get some episodes of dripping sweat once in a while – especially when I am nervous. However, in all, my routine life is barely impacted by hyperhidrosis now.

If I could manage my hyperhidrosis, I am sure you can too!

Can you advise me how to get rid of my excessive sweat?

I would love to! However, I am not a qualified medical professional, and I believe you should consult one to get a treatment plan suitable for you. Having said that, I do like to share my experience with Hyperhidrosis through this website. A lot of other patients have also shared their stories, or participated on the forums – you are welcome to read through those, and I hope some of them are useful to you.

I repeat, I cannot advise you on your specific situation. That is not because I don't want to, but because I am not the best person to do that.

You talk a lot about Iontophoresis – why?

That's true. There are several treatment options for Hyperhidrosis, and iontophoresis is just one of them. I do talk more about Iontophoresis simply because that's the treatment that works for me, and I have a lot of personal opinions to share about that.

What should I read first?

Good question. If you can only read one post today, I recommend you read the primer on hyperhidrosis treatment options. This is the most comprehensive post on various treatment options for excessive sweat. You can then choose to focus on particular articles that interest you.

Can you include/feature/recommend our product on the blog?

This is a mixed one. I do talk about relevant products on the website – mostly when I have personal experience with using them. In some cases, I receive the products from the manufacturer/distributors to do the reviews. However, in no case I mis-represent my impression of the product, irrespective of whether I got the product for free, or if I paid for the product.

Do you earn money from this website?

Yes and no. In some cases, I may get paid a small amount if you buy something by clicking on an  external links on this website. However, in all cases, you do not pay anything more than what you'd have otherwise (and actually save a good amount of money in some cases). I use the payments I get in this way to continue supporting this website (hosting, web development etc) as those costs do add up over time!

Why didn't you reply to the question I sent you in email?

I love it when readers email me and try to answer as many of them as I can. I unfortunately am not great with email management and am a bit lazy with those. The best way to get a response from me is to leave a comment on the post, or on the About page or start a topic on forums. I definitely respond to most of them, and you may actually get better perspective since other readers may also chip in instead of just me.
