If you are using direct current iontophoresis for hyperhidrosis, it's recommended that you take 15-minute treatments. If you are using pulsed current, you can prolong this, I think, the weaker the current is, the longer the treatment can be. If iontophoresis device is set to 50% wave width pulsed current, you can increase the treatment time for 50%, what means 15+7.5 minutes = 22.5 minutes, approximately.

Does that make sense to you? I know these rules apply to Hidrex definitely, but I think they can also apply for Fischer Galvanic MD-2

Just out of curiosity, how are your formerly sweaty hands holding up against 20 minute treatments? Are they cured? Is the skin too dry?

As far as I know, yeah, Botox blocks excessive sweat regardless of its cause, so you should be good! 😀

It stops the glands, simple as that, so essentially yeah, it deals with the symptoms and not with the cause of excessive sweating. But wait, do you have sweaty hands all the time, or only when you get anxious?

And are you sure that Botox is the way to go if you have anxiety issues? Not to sound condescending, but maybe you should deal with your anxiety first (counseling, meds…) It might stop your anxiety and cure your sweaty hands at the same time. I'm not saying that you shouldn't use a hyperhidrosis treatment to stop sweating, but think about all your options first.

E.g. if pulsed current has a better long-term effect on treating sweaty palms, etc.

Sorry if this is off-topic – I wanted to reply to this question.
Casper, from what I know, this really could be the case. The manufacturer of my iontophoresis device – Idromed – states the following as the advantage of pulsed current iontophoresis: ❗

“A more delicate treatment and because of this: The possibility to choose higher current levels, for better and faster success, and the chance having less iontophoresis sessions a week”

Of course, I have no idea what exactly do they mean by high or low current level. I strongly feel that everyone is different: some people have a more severe excessive sweating problem, some people can't tolerate high currents.. So I think that every hyperhidrosis treatment – iontophoresis included – primarily needs to be shaped to suit every individual patient! And it's the same way I've been using my Idromed since the day I got it.

        P.S. Sorry for somewhat off-topical rambling. 😀

        Hey!
Yes, in the end my friend got instructions to wash her underarm pads a.k.a. Drionic applicators less, erm, vigorously. It turned out she used an aggressive soap or something like that, and of course, she wasn't supposed to!

Now she has new pads and they've lasted for the last 3-4 months, and still seem fine – or at least that's what she told me the last time we talked about it. In the end, I'm not sure what to say about Drionic's quality. Maybe it was all my friend's fault after all!

It's easy to forget that iontophoresis machines are pretty delicate in a way. I, for one, try to take the best possible care of my Idromed! 🙂

Your mileage may vary. I adore Hushed Sea (haven't we talked about this already, Elena? lol) but I don't think I could take it without sugar. Then again, for someone like Ramona, maybe it's the other way around…

        @Ramona
See if you can buy a small package of Hushed Sea and try it out. I think there's a fair chance you will like it. And even if it is not super tasty, who cares? As long as it does the trick… 😉

Yeah, go with Idromed. I have Idromed 5 PC and it is awesome – works like a charm, looks like a stylish gadget, is very easy to pack up, doesn't take up a lot of space and – most importantly for you – is not heavy.

It weighs about 2,5 – 3 kg. Is that too heavy for you? It is like carrying an average bag full of groceries. lol

I raise an eyebrow arrogantly, give them “the look” and otherwise pretend like I haven't heard what they said. It boils down to ignoring them… It is better than descending down to their level. Also, I like adding a grain of arrogance to my bearing at that moment, just to prove to them that their lack of manners cannot hurt me!
They act like they never get sweaty armpits at the very least… sheesh.

I have Idromed 5 PC for about 5 months now, and I am satisfied. Things aren't perfect, but that's my fault – my schedule is hectic and I sometimes skip the treatments. That ruins the maintenance routine, and then I need more treatments, etc. And that's how it goes on and on chaotically. =D
Still, when I use it properly, the iontophoresis machine itself works like a charm. =) I'll write more about it later if anyone's interested. =)

I can recommend Hushed Sea Hyperhidrosis Herbal Tea – it's delicious and I'm convinced it helps me maintain a semblance of control over my overactive sweat glands. =) The tea is not a miracle worker on its own and I combine it with other hyperhidrosis treatments, but I noticed further improvements after I started drinking Hushed Sea, so I know the tea makes a difference. Good enough for me. =)
