The more I talk to them about it, the more supportive they are. They weren't at first, something that made me sad and only fed my anxiety, but now it is slowly getting better. My dad still has suspicions that it's “all in my head”, and that somehow I should just decide to stop sweating and things will get better lol. My mom explored some hyperhidrosis facts and is more inclined to admit that I need professional help.

They are also helping me by giving me money for clinical antiperspirants and my mom has said they will give me half of the money for an iontophoresis machine if I save up the other half. So, it is definitely getting better. I would say they are supportive enough.

But Mary Jane, I am sorry to hear that about your family… 🙁

Oh, I was just thinking of creating a thread about social anxiety, and then saw this…
I didn't take that test there. Is it about social anxiety or just general anxiety?
Ramona, did you learn anything useful from those test results?

Anyone else here coping with anxiety along with hyperhidrosis?

Hi Becky! Trust me, you're not alone in this… I know exactly how tiresome this struggle is, halfway between anxiety and sweating, all the time… It wears me out, I think it's taxing and exhausting on some emotional level, which is probably why we don't feel like socializing that much. I mean, it's easier to stay at home and be comfortable, than go out and stress over everything. 🙁

Eh, at least we can vent online…

Anyway I'm trying to be more proactive in my quest for a hyperhidrosis cure. That feels like my only hope to be honest. Did you look around the website? Apparently there are many various treatments, hopefully you will find something that might help you…

Hi there! Have a fun stay here!

I have plantar and palmar hyperhidrosis combo since I was 18, and so far I haven't yet experimented with too many treatments. Mostly just antiperspirants to stop excessive sweating. I tend to get nervous around people in real life, so I love chatting online. Feel free to send me a private message so we can also chat there! 😛 🙂

        Hahaha, I love this:
        😆
        The solution

As posted here by our webmaster.

Maybe I will print it out and keep in on my fridge as an everyday reminder. 😀
And luckily in my experience people I care about have mostly been understanding and kind once they would learn about my problem. Others… ah, it depends on a person. On the other hand, I don't feel like explaining my excessive sweating causes to everyone I meet, so I can't really know how they would react if they knew that I have overactive sweat glands…

This is interesting, and also worries me a little. I never undertook any blood (or other) tests that should determine if I really have “only” hyperhidrosis.
However, I remember reading that excessive sweating in localized areas of the body AND first appearing in adolescence or earlier is likely a primary hyperhidrosis; on the other hand, excess sweating that first appears in later years (forties, fifties, etc) can be a sign of serious illness. :/

        @ Ramona
Hi! From the looks of it, we're 2 different sides of the same coin: I have anxiety issues BECAUSE I'm sweating too much, whereas you sweat too much because of anxiety.
So, in a mirror reflection, I understand how you feel. I am sure you'll be able to overcome your problems and then you can brag to us how you're not sweating profusely anymore. 😉

That's so great how the treatment worked for your daughter! =) It never even occurred to me how hyperhidrosis can create serious problems for someone who engages in activities that strictly require dry hands – like gymnastics, for example…

I definitely want to try iontophoresis, from what I've read this seems to be the best method for curing sweaty palms and feet. However, I need to save up for an iontophoresis machine first. :/ I could get a cheaper one soon, but as you wrote, it's best to invest in a really good model that can last for years to come.

Does special footwear help with the odor? Or how do you deal with that?
These brands look good, btw. I see some of these sell on Amazon, so I might as well give it a go… Although I typically don't like buying shoes online, it's a different story with flip-flops. Not that many worries about buying the right size with them. 😀 And I suppose that wearing super light footwear reduces heavy sweating.
Still, I'd only consider flip-flops if there's a way to be sure all odor is neutralized. :/

If only I had friends who sweat too much, my life would be much nicer. Haha, okay, that sounds ridiculous, but you get what I mean! XD

Tim you're totally lucky to have a friend who understands you! If there are really 180 million people out there with hyperhidrosis, I'm sure I will sooner or later run into someone who's also dealing with profuse sweating. 🙂

Thanks for the advices… Yeah I suppose it is possible other people don't notice the things that seem glaringly obvious to me. I keep waiting for someone to make a disgusted face or comment on my sweaty palms and feet. I don't know which of these two is more embarrassing! 😮

Still, between fighting the anxiety in the company of others and avoiding them to be at peace, I'd rather have peace of mind. That's my conclusion whenever I try to force myself to be more outgoing. :/
I must do my best to find out how to stop sweating. That will help better than anything else. ❗

I'm certain emotions play a big part in my excessive sweating – it's that cursed loop in which I'm nervous because I have sweaty palms and feet, and then I sweat even more… and then I'm more and more anxious. Emotions bury me pretty deep.

This is the first time I hear someone's excess sweating is influenced by happy emotions. Sorry to hear that, it really sounds annoying. 😐

Mine started unusually late, I think. I was 18 at the time.
In classes, I would get sweaty palms during exams – or even just while taking notes. Blamed it on anxiety at first, but it didn't go away. Soon after that my problems came to include sweaty feet as well. A few times I'd noticed how my shoes are soaked through – but it turned out it wasn't the rain, you know. 😡

        Hi,

I have just learned on another forum that getting medication without prescription can be possible, but a lot of it depends on where you live! So, it seems that getting Robinul in UK is very difficult, in USA you need a prescription, and in Canada you can just buy it like you would buy an Aspirin!

A lot of people apparently buy Canadian glycopyrrolate by ordering it from online Canadian pharmacy (Pharmacy.ca) which doesn't require a prescription. I hope this helps!
