Having supportive family and friends is, I believe, an excellent shield when dealing with excessive perspiration and its effects on the quality of life. Maybe this is one of the reasons why I never had problems with anxiety, and it makes me feel very lucky.
I always say: stay positive no matter what – there are worse things than profuse sweating,…[Read more] -

I used to be more anxious when I was younger, but mostly grew out of it by now. Of course, there's a catch… I'm prone to head sweating sometimes – especially on my brow, and it is really extremely noticeable. This turns out into a real disaster in meetings.
I do my best to deal with it: keeping my hair very short and using anti-perspirant on my…[Read more] -

Thanks Steve, that's very kind of you – I'd say you're better at being supportive than you believe yourself to be. ^^
I just came online to see what's new – I'm a little busy now and gotta run from the computer, but I will absolutely look into your topic later. Thanks for helping once again.. because frankly I feel like I probably gave you the…[Read more]

Ramona replied to the topic How to avoid make-up meltdowns? in the forum Hyperhidrosis Forum 10 years, 11 months ago
Hey these are some really lovely tips! I stopped using make-up because it made me nervous. I have excessive facial sweating sometimes – I never know when it's gonna hit me – and so it seemed better to stop using make-up altogether.
Maybe I should try using at least liquid eyeliner with mascara. For starters, and then we'll see. ^^
I know it's…[Read more] -

Thanks everyone, you are very kind. I didn't want to attract so much attention lol. ^^' …but thanks once again.
I am positive that if I knew how to stay calm, I'd knew how to prevent sweating. I talked to a psychologist, but my anxiety isn't severe enough to require medication. She said I just need to overcome my nervousness and suggested I…[Read more]

Hello everyone,
I have anxiety issues and this partly causes my hyperhidrosis. 😳 There is even a possibility that I would be able to completely stop excessive sweating if only I could deal with my anxiety issues. I don't like talking a lot in public but it is much easier online and I hope this place will help me deal with my emotions…[Read more]

Hey, you forgot about truncal hyperhidrosis! That type of heavy sweating probably benefits from special undergarments more than any other. Especially if you're a guy. 😐 😳
More on topic… I have several sweat-proof shirts, but mainly use them for sports and similar activities. They are comfortable this way, but I never wore them…[Read more]

Toby replied to the topic What's the best antiperspirant for men? in the forum Antiperspirants Forum 10 years, 12 months ago
I always have trouble with antiperspirants in summer, because I'm sweating at night (we don't have an air conditioner in our bedroom yet!) and I cannot apply antiperspirants before I go to sleep. I mean – I can and I do – but they don't help as much as they would if I stayed dry during night.
While I don't know what's the best antiperspirant for…[Read more]

Toby replied to the topic Hyperhidrosis – is it genetics? in the forum Hyperhidrosis Forum 10 years, 12 months ago
I cannot remember hyperhidrosis being a big issue in my family – but it is possible that my late mother had it. Father is not sure, however.
Hopefully, it's not genetics in my case. My oldest son is 16 and I am getting increasingly worried that I passed hyperhidrosis to him. My wife has zero problems with excess sweating, so if any of our…[Read more]

I'm sorry to hear that excessive perspiration has such effect on your life. When I was younger, I felt the same, but then realized how this way of thinking will drive me insane. Our assumptions about the others differ from the reality. Other people have their own thoughts and worries – they probably don't even notice your excess sweating half of…[Read more]

Tim Fleiss replied to the topic Do I have hyperhidrosis? in the forum Hyperhidrosis Forum 10 years, 12 months ago
It's a common thing among teenagers to worry about. The body changes and what might seem like excess sweating can actually be perfectly normal.
That being said, usually this misconception is related to underarm sweating, not sweaty hands and feet. Hmmm. Ask yourself a few questions – how badly does perspiration affect your everyday life? Does it…[Read more]

Tim Fleiss replied to the topic Do you know anyone else with hyperhidrosis in RL? in the forum Hyperhidrosis Forum 10 years, 12 months ago
Yes, I do have one friend who has palmar hyperhidrosis (while I have axillary hyperhidrosis) and it definitely help us both deal with this condition.
We don't meet that often (maybe once a month), but when we do see each other, we exchange some advices on how to prevent sweating, discuss excessive sweating causes, stuff like that, y'know. And…[Read more]

Tim Fleiss replied to the topic Why is sweating being so condemned in our society? in the forum Hyperhidrosis Forum 11 years ago
Well said! Mind you, I have a little inside joke with a friend of mine (who also suffers from profuse sweating.) Something that helps us feel better about our hyper hydrosis issues.
We meet, shake hands, and if his are wet, I say: “Hey man, I see you're keeping it cool!” He's the same with me if my shirt is stained, etc. The function of sweating…[Read more]

Tim Fleiss replied to the topic Have you tried Botox treatments? in the forum Botox For Hyperhidrosis Forum 11 years ago
Hey Jenny. You seem young and I agree with your mother there – it would be best to first exhaust all milder methods and see if you can find out how to stop armpit sweating with a less “toxic” method.
That being said, “filling my body with poison” is definitely a stretch, but as you seem a bit upset I can see where it's coming from. =)
I believe…[Read more] -

Tim Fleiss replied to the topic When did you first notice hyperhidrosis? in the forum Hyperhidrosis Forum 11 years ago
It started getting bad when I was about fifteen. It made my high school gym class hell, I got teased regularly, and even if it wasn't full blown bullying, the insults ranged from mildly annoying to hurtful.
Since I have axillary hyperhidrosis, no one (me included) thought it's a medical condition – it just seemed like I'm a teenager with bad…[Read more] -

I had Botox injections for my axillary hyperhidrosis about two years ago. It was a one time thing and I hadn't experienced any bad side effects. I took about 25 Botox units into each armpit and the effects lasted about 5 months. Seems good, since my dose was one of the lower ones.
Now, I don't know what your reasons are, but I'd like to point out…[Read more]
