Man, people can be so insensitive! πŸ˜•

Can't you see the woman is terrified? And you're just advising her to shrug it off and boldly spill everything out!? 😐

Mary-Jane, I think you should wait until you feel comfortable to talk about hyperhidrosis with him. Let's be realistic. We all know how important first impressions are… 😐 There is a chance that he will be more inclined to react well to your hyperhidrosis confession if you tell it later. He will know you by then, and he will be able to ignore any prejudice he might have toward people who sweat too much.

There is one exception to my advice though. If this axillary hyperhidrosis *secret* is bothering you so much that you cannot really be yourself around this guy, then maybe you should tell him now.

I never used Degree… Thanks for the tip, I will likely try it out! πŸ™‚

Anyone else has some suggestions? Come on ppl, don't be shy! You're making me feel like my thread bombed. I know we don't all share the same nose, but every recommendation is welcome!

Doesn't sound good. I think I can kiss Botox goodbye. Oh well. I just read so many stories about people who got SO much better from Botox and were then dry for months and months… I would love to try this someday, I think. Maybe when I'm older. πŸ™‚

I'd like to hijack this thread and add an additional question: can you please add, when listing recommendations, if these teas can be taken without sugar? For some reason I can't stand tea with sugar – I only drink those that are tasty even without any kind of sweeteners.

Elena, are any of brands you tried tasty enough to be taken without sugar? Can I add lemon to them?

Stupid questions, I know, but I'm not much of a tea lover… 😳

As you can see from my earlier posts, I'm something of a nervous freak and often get sweaty when feeling anxious. This sweat is too excessive to be normal, so I pretty much have some kind of hyperhidrosis.
Typically I have excess sweat on my underarms and face, but other areas (like hands) can be affected also.
This all started a few years back, and I feel as if I am still learning how to live this way. It is difficult.

Well, I also wanted to say hi to everyone (Lucas, jessie, Maggie, Becky and Erin). Hope to see you all around and exchange some advices on how to stop sweating this much. πŸ™‚

my opinion is that a good Yoga instructor is invaluable. DVDs can hardly replace a real live class

Even when I'm not sweating too much, I don't feel comfortable in rooms full of people, which is why I would prefer taking Yoga lessons at home. I can imagine a lot of people are sweating a lot during Yoga classes, but even with that I think that Yoga DVDs are a better option for me. I want Yoga to relax me and stop my overactive sweat glands, and this will hardly happen if I'm anxious. :/

This is why strangers make me nervous. I just tend to avoid people I don't know, especially if I'm sweating profusely and drawing additional attention to myself. All of us sweating too much should stick together! As for the topic question… I deal with rude people by avoiding them. Even if I don't know how to prevent sweating, I know how to prevent unwanted social interactions. XD

From the looks of it, perhaps I do not have hyperhidrosis after all… In my case, every episode of profuse sweating gets triggered by increased nervousness and anxiety. When this happens, I have problems with everything: excessive armpit sweating, excessive head sweating… I also tend to get sweaty palms and feet – and especially palms. ^___^
The sweating is definitely strong, but if it's always neatly triggered by high anxiety, perhaps this is not about hyper hydrosis after all?

Hi Sean, can you please tell me if Yoga has a calming effect on you? I mean, psychologically? Apparently Yoga can be used to achieve mild forms of meditation, and it seems like something that could give me peace, and at the same time keep me from sweating too much.
Umm, but I wouldn't really like taking Yoga classes… the idea makes me uncomfortable. My idea is to get some DVDs with Yoga for beginners and exercise alone at home. ^^'

I finally found the time to check this link out and I even solved the anxiety test over there. Is says I suffer from moderate general anxiety. When it comes to specific anxiety levels, social anxiety and agoraphobia are severe. I am not surprised by this. ^__^

        It also says:

It's hard for you to enjoy life on any consistent level. You're hardly ever experiencing a peace of mind. You're often fearful, worrisome, and unhappy. You don't like being this way but you don't know what to do to change.

This is so true… The website is supposed to e-mail me the detailed report and some strategies on managing anxiety, so maybe that will help a bit and I can learn how to reduce sweating. Then again, I doubt they will tell me anything new. (I talked to a psychologist already.)

Thanks Steve, that's very kind of you – I'd say you're better at being supportive than you believe yourself to be. ^^

I just came online to see what's new – I'm a little busy now and gotta run from the computer, but I will absolutely look into your topic later. Thanks for helping once again.. because frankly I feel like I probably gave you the idea for that anxiety topic. 😳 But as you said, many people who sweat too much are anxious…

Hey these are some really lovely tips! I stopped using make-up because it made me nervous. I have excessive facial sweating sometimes – I never know when it's gonna hit me – and so it seemed better to stop using make-up altogether.
Maybe I should try using at least liquid eyeliner with mascara. For starters, and then we'll see. ^^
I know it's wrong, but I feel a little prettier with a bit of make-up. Makes me slighly more confident. ^^

Thanks everyone, you are very kind. I didn't want to attract so much attention lol. ^^' …but thanks once again.

I am positive that if I knew how to stay calm, I'd knew how to prevent sweating. I talked to a psychologist, but my anxiety isn't severe enough to require medication. She said I just need to overcome my nervousness and suggested I spend more time with friends in public spaces where crowds tend to gather. Unfortunately, I don't have that many good friends. ^__^

        Hello everyone,

I have anxiety issues and this partly causes my hyperhidrosis. 😳 There is even a possibility that I would be able to completely stop excessive sweating if only I could deal with my anxiety issues. I don't like talking a lot in public but it is much easier online and I hope this place will help me deal with my emotions better, at least to the point where I can learn how to prevent sweating in sensitive situations. ^^'

        Cheers,
        Ramona ^^
